Communities of Practice

Communities of practice (COP) are groups who share commonalities: a concern for something; a set of problems; a situation or circumstance; a curiosity or passion, and seek to deepen their knowledge and understanding through ongoing interaction.

A community of practice, by nature, is dynamic: informally bound by the value found in connecting and engaging - making it an integral part of their interactions and serving as a living repository for that understanding. These creative alliances offer a practical way of framing the sharing of information and expereince and provide new points of stability and connection for a shifting conception of knowledge that is much more a living process than a static body of information.
